I know this is totally random. But after writing the first post, I realized I also wanted to post another with links to Ibiza nightlife.. Afterall Pomplona where they do the "Running of the Bulls" event, and Ibiza , the rave and party capital of the world are both in Spain. Yea! Spaniards are crazy I am telling you! So here I wanted to tell you a bit about Ibiza.
In Ibiza there are 4-5 big nightclubs that accomodate like 5 to 20.000 people at once. Can you believe it? Also, partying in Ibiza is 24 hours. People start partying the hour they land at the airport after leaving their bags in their hotel room, they head to the beach , preferably to Bora Bora in Platja D'em Bossa where people sip their mojitos (or waterbottles), and dance to the soothing music and the mediterranean heat waves of the summer. Then they go eat dinner at their hotel's open buffet and then go to the pubs to get drunk. After that, they drink some redbull or whatever they want in pill form, and head to one of the big clubs like Privilege , Amnesia where the partying continues until 6-8 in the morning.
These clubs can mean lots of money. Covers go for around 30 to 50 euros, like 45 to 65 bucks. Drinks inside go for 20 euros, like 26 dollars. Pretty crazy. Ibiza certainly is not cheap.
The place to go after all parties are over, is famous fat house DJ Carl Cox 's Space . Spanish kids pronounce this as "shpeysh" so don't think that's another club. They are still referring to the day time club which opens its doors at 8 AM in the morning and closes right after 2 PM or so. Inside is dark, with the same kind of lighting you would find at a night club. Outside, there are hammocks and relaxation areas. It's still crazy... People are just like energizer bunnies jumping up and down and going all night.
After Space is over, people head back to Bora Bora, and often fall asleep dancing and end up laying on one of the long chairs.
Cafe Del Mar is another spot to go to in Ibiza. Before it became famous with its music compilation CDs we now find at the Virgin store, Cafe Del Mar, used to be just a classic Ibiza hangout, where people went to watch the sunset and listen to the soothing music. But the music became popular, as people wanted to reminisce the good times and the sunset and wanted to take the music with them back home when the summer ended.. So now we have the Cafe Del Mar style music.
